The Illinois Prairie State Chiropractic Association (IPSCA) presents a 32 hour prep course for the Illinois/ARRT state exam which will allow your CA to take spinal x-rays. REQUIRED BY STATE LAW: Anyone in a chiropractic office taking x-rays is REQUIRED to be licensed or certified by the state of Illinois and the ARRT. Under the Illinois Radiation Act, a licensed Chiropractor may register an assistant (CA) as a “Student-In-Training” in radiology. Within 8 months of state application registration the student must take and pass a CORE exam given by the ARRT in radiation physics and patient protection followed by an examination in a specialty position selected (spinal). Upon successful completion of the examination the student will be certified to take x-rays by the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety and the ARRT as a “Limited Radiographic Technician”.
